What is a During Production Inspection
A During Production Inspection (DPI) is performed when 10% to 50% of the order is completed. Our inspectors check semi-finished and finished units against your requirements while production is still running, so defects are detected and corrected before the bulk of the order is finished.
What the DPI covers
- Random sampling of semi-finished and finished units
- In-process quality checks at key control points
- Workmanship, dimensions, function and assembly verification
- Identification of root causes (machine settings, operator errors, materials)
- Verification that earlier findings have been corrected
- On-site photos of defects, rework and process conditions
When to book a DPI
Book a DPI when 10% to 50% of production is complete, while corrections are still possible and before the factory commits to the full run. It is ideal for large-volume orders and first-time suppliers.
Why a DPI matters
- Detects defects early, before they multiply across the order
- Protects your delivery schedule from late-stage surprises
- Verifies that corrective actions were actually implemented
- Supports confident go / hold decisions mid-production
