Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to booking, standards, reporting and pricing.

Why do I need pre-shipment inspections?

Pre-shipment inspections let you verify product quality, quantity, packaging and compliance before the balance payment. They reduce the risk of receiving defective or incorrect goods, protect your brand reputation and help avoid costly returns or disputes.

What shall I provide before inspection?

You need to provide the factory address and contact person, product name, PO or packing list for the order. If there are any special requirements, please provide the checking list.

How many days in advance should I book the inspection?

To book an inspection, please send an email to kelly@cgfiinspection.com at least 2-3 days in advance. While we may be able to accommodate next-day inspections in some manufacturing clusters where we have a large team of inspectors, we highly recommend booking at least 2-3 days ahead of time, especially in the peak seasons.

Inspection Standard

We will adopt random sampling inspection according to international standards (MIL-STD-105E / ISO2859 / ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 / BS6001). It is a method by attributes based on the mathematical theory of probability. This method provides the number of samples to be inspected in a given lot/shipment size. It also provides the special criteria for acceptance or rejection of a shipment/lot based on the number of defects found, and provides a fair assessment to both buyers and sellers of product quality. This method comprises of Sample Size Code Letter and Acceptable Quality Level (AQL).

Acceptable Quality Level (AQL)

Acceptable quality level (AQL) stipulates the maximum defects numbers of acceptable quality. If not being specially demanded, it generally be implemented as Critical defect not allowed, Major defect 2.5, Minor defect 4.0.

Defect Classification

Defects detected during visual inspection are classified within 3 categories, Critical, Major and Minor.

Critical: A unit of product is classified as Critical defect if it would result in hazardous or unsafe conditions for individuals using and maintaining.
Major: A unit of product is classified as Major defect if it is likely to result in failure, or to reduce materially the usability of the unit for its intended purpose.
Minor: A unit of product is classified as Minor defect if it is having little bearing on the effective use of the product.
