Pre-Shipment Inspection for Mattresses and Bedding Products

Importing mattresses, bed frames, pillows, toppers or bedding sets from Chinese factories? CGF INSPECTION provides reliable Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) services to verify your bedding products against the approved golden sample and your specification - before the container is sealed and shipped to your warehouse.

Why Bedding Products Need Pre-Shipment Inspection

Mattresses and bedding products are bulky and difficult to return once shipped. A single batch with the wrong foam density, uneven stitching, off-color fabric or mislabeled sizes can trigger expensive after-sale claims and hurt your retail reputation. CGF inspectors stand on the factory floor at the critical 80%-100% production stage to verify your order is made correctly before the goods leave China.

What CGF Inspectors Check During PSI for Mattresses and Bedding

1. Fabric Cover & Quilting

Examine fabric quality, weave, color consistency, quilting pattern, embroidery, zipper function and label accuracy against the approved sample.

2. Foam Density & Firmness

Sample-cut foam to verify specified density (kg/m3) and ILD firmness. Out-of-spec foam density or hardness is flagged before shipment.

3. Spring Unit & Pocket Coil

Inspect coil count, gauge, pocket fabric, edge support and noise test. Any squeaky or uneven coil response is marked defective.

4. Dimensions & Loft

Measure critical dimensions (length, width, height) and unit weight on a sample to confirm the batch matches the golden sample in shape and loft.

5. Stitching & Edge Finishing

Examine side stitching, edge tape, handles, air vents and overall finishing for skipped stitches, loose threads and uneven edges.

6. Color & Style Consistency

Verify each unit's fabric color, pattern and style are consistent with the approved golden sample - no off-color batches or mixed fabric lots.

7. Labeling & Packaging

Care labels, FR (flame retardant) tags, law tags, master carton labels, plastic bags and carton strength are checked for compliance with destination-market requirements.

Inspection Sampling Standard

CGF follows AQL-based random sampling for mattresses and bedding PSI - typically General Inspection Level II with Accept=0 / Reject=1 for critical defects and 2.5 / 3.5 for major/minor. For orders above USD 10,000 or premium bedding products, we recommend upgrading to a 100% Full-Scope Pre-Shipment Inspection.

Inspection Deliverables

Within 24 hours of inspection completion, you receive an English report containing: pass/fail per sample, defect type breakdown with annotated photos, foam density and dimension measurements, packaging verification, and a clear pass / fail / hold recommendation for shipment.
